Coach of the Month - October

Each month the directors name two coaches that represent Sporting Nebraska FC values and commitment to our players. Congratulations to the September winners: Devin & Jon.

Girls COM October - Devin Frisby

Congratulation to Coach Devin Frisby for her Girl’s Coach of the Month award. Devin joined the club almost three years ago. We first met at a Youth night and when Devin arrived she immediately started juggling the ball. As players arrived she reached out and shared how to juggle, which was an instant hit. As we discussed Devin's future as a coach she kindly shared she was an Arsenal fan. Well what can one say, we agreed to offer Devin more coaching with our Academy teams. Devin's presence has helped all our players become more comfortable working on individual development. Devin moved into the higher level of coaching as a coach and player for the Sporting UWS team. Devin challenged players on and off the field, helping every player become a student of the game. Devin currently works within the Academy and ECNL-RL programs. Again Congrats and well deserved. She has a great future ahead. - Alex Mason & Luke Baxter, Girls' Directors of Coaching

Boys COM October - Jon Iberg

Jon Iberg - Coach Jon is currently in his sixth year as part of the Sporting Nebraska FC coaching staff. For most of that time, he has served as a head coach in our 2008 boys age group in the Competitive Program and he has recently taken on assistant coach duties with the 2006 Boys’ Gold team. Among Jon’s many qualities, the infectious passion that he shows for his players, the club, and the game of soccer is at the top of the list. Jon gets the best out of his players not only by way of his incredible enthusiasm but also because he demands a high personal standard of himself and his team. Jon's tenure with Sporting Nebraska has helped build the 2008 boys’ age group into one of our strongest and his time and talent is appreciated by all of us. - Karl Ostrand
